Exceptional

Staffs were so helpful and very polite. The room and toilet were very clean. Breakfast was exceptional as adviced and we enjoyed our time at the hotel very much. The hotel also provided shuttle bus which was very convenient.

The hotel is too far to walk from train station (with luggage).

Wonderful

The location is just perfect for traversing around Arashiyama and other major tourist areas in Kyoto. The room was very clean equipped with a nice set of amenities. What made this hotel for me were all of the staff's kindness or basically their attitude. It's the best stay to do when you want to just lounge around Arashiyama. Thank you so much!

The description in booking.com wasn't really as accurate since when I got there there were no shuttles, breakfast and dinner choices and vending machines. Plus I need to pay another tax during checkin. But then again there are restaurants and convenience stores as well as a city bus stop nearby so all those problems are pretty much solved. Everything's good.

A traditional, charming hotel offering old school hospitality

The staff was friendly and always willing to help. Overall, the hotel has a charming, traditional feel that reflects the classic values of hospitality. However, it seems better suited for older couples and appears to cater primarily to senior Japanese tourists. The hotel is conveniently located near the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, the river, and several Buddhist temples nestled within the forest. The area felt more residential but offered an authentic and tranquil side of Kyoto, which we appreciated. It also features a bike-sharing station where you can rent bikes, and there is a Family Mart and other shops approximately 200 meters away. The breakfast was good, featuring authentic Japanese dishes. However, if you're not accustomed to eating pickles, fish, and hotpot in the morning, it might not be for you.

We visited in November when it was still quite warm outside. Unfortunately, the hotel's central AC system was not operational, leaving our room uncomfortably hot and requiring us to open the window, which let in some noise. Fortunately, the weather cooled down in the following days, making the situation more comfortable. Staff speaks limited english, yet they are always willing to help. The hotel is far from most of main attractions in Kyoto, yet well connected by bus or bike, but factor it in your planning.

Decent value and close to main attractions.

Location was great

Checkin process is slow, not being able to keep the key to our room when we went out, no choice over the breakfast menu, and rigid time to have breakfast.

Nice hotel in Kyoto

What a comfy stay! They have additional parking spot nearby the hotel. So, if you arrive and there's no parking space right at the hotel, you can still park at their designated parking lot. The hotel is modest. Super clean and comfortable. For the room we chose, they have a Japanese style bathroom (the bathing section, the toilet part is still western, so don't worry) which is interesting, and I think it adds a unique charm to the place. The Breakfast is a set and require booking time. We are happy to choose this hotel for our visit to Kyoto!

Great room and space, extras not included in price

Excellent room with a living space, and clean.

We booked this hotel because it came up as having breakfast included and free parking. It was disappointing to find out neither were included. We were charged with a 4800 yen parking fee (for three nights) on the way out. I’m not sure if that’s a booking.com issue or not, in terms of information available up front. The motel book also says there’s a laundry service but when we tried to use this there was a lot of confusion so we gave up and found a coin laundry instead. We’re still glad we stayed there as everything else was great and the staff were polite - just things to be aware of if you choose to use this motel.

Not comfortable, air conditioning is not function properly, room is far too small.

Didn’t try their breakfast.

Early check in has to pay 1100 JPY for each hour, on top of the accommodation charges, hotel service tax, they charge Kyoto travel tax, the fee no one mentioned before I book this hotel. Hotel is the place to provide hospitality to their guests, but we didn’t feel any from this hotel.

The bathroom has a tub and it’s really nice.

The staff is nice! It’s 20 min walk from Saga Arashyama. And it’s 10min from there to Arashyama (which Randen and Bamboo forest are) But it’s walkable from Saga Arashyama ~ Arashyama. And from JR station cost 800-600 yen by taxi to the hotel. Or bus goes through (93) nearby hotel right in front of Randen house. The shuttle bus in the morning is nice

-You can’t eat breakfast if it not reserved the day before. -You must also reserve pick up shuttle if you’re going to use it. -The air conditioning does not work properly, and it gets really hot inside.

It's a nice place to stay if you like a quiet area that is near one of the tourist attractions

Staff: very professional, friendly, hospitable Location: accessible by public transport; quiet area Room: clean and spacious Hallway: wide and bright

Room: only got 1 key and no spare. Too hot and uncomfortable even if we turned off the AC/heater. Spent 3 nights and even if we have individual beds it is strange that we always wake up early morning because it's too hot and uncomfortable even if outside temperature is very cold and freezing. AC/heater is centralized. Windows are locked so we don't have option of getting fresh air.
